whippet & Greyhound color genetics are identical so the lurcher cross should be ...
we are dealing with 3 sets of genes here
1)the spotting gene that makes a paritcolor (pied) is recessive to solid so with a solid parent you WILL get solid colored pups. You MAY get parties & irish marks as well IF mom carries the unseen parti recessive as well (does she have parti parents or littermates?)l.
2)then we get the K locus that determines Black, brindle, fawn. Black is the dominate so with a black parent (blues are black on the k locus) there WILL be blacks. Brindle is dominate to fawn so mom has to be fawn/ fawn but once again we don't have the data to know what dad has under the dominate black color - he can have ONLY one, fawn or brindle or he could have a second black gene (in which case you get only black pups) so you may get reds OR brindles but not both...
3) now for the blue color - the sighthounds have a dilution gene that dilutes ALL black hairs on a dog to blue/grey - that is a recessive so if this gene is involved you will not get blues unless the black masked mom, who clearly has at least one nondilute gene) has one hidden copy of the blue gene IF this is the gene involved. HOWEVER if dad has a touch of black, the gene that faded him to blue probably is the MELE gene that fades black to blue in a mottled pattern (not in grey/whippet gene pool but he could have gotten it from the collie side)THIS is a dominate so will show up if this is what we deal with. so possibility of blue merle pups or red merle if the merle gene combined with red/red on k lotus (don't know what merle combined with brindle looks like)
Soooo.. solid blacks definite. blue melre possible. reds OR brindles possible, red or brindle merles possilble too... and chance of partis of these colors
