 Leaking NEW battery and Voltage regulator.. ? I recently put a new battery in my 2000VW Jetta.. the car ran for about a week before my battery died due to it leaking. in case you havent noticed, i dont want to pony up for a new platernator if its not necessary. Thanks for any advice people of the internet. Unfortunately, your new battery failed because it was boiled by the lack of voltage regulation...Basically all of the Hydrogen was cooked out of the battery. You will need a new battery and I would highly recommend that you replace the alternator considering this is where your voltage regulator is located. Any Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts or ORiely's will be able to test and confirm the problem and have the parts for you. Good Luck |
